What database does Farmer CanePro use?

Farmer CanePro is a user-friendly windows based product with easy to use reports.
I am only interested in parts of Farmer CanePro. Can I purchase only parts of the product?
No, Farmer CanePro has integrated modules and is sold as one product.
How large is your existing client base?
Approximately 100 farmers in South Africa are currently using Farmer CanePro.
How do you charge for Farmer CanePro?
Annual License Fee 2010 = R5 990.00 (excl VAT) = R 6 828.60
Purchase Price 2010 = R 17 490.00 (excl VAT) = R 19 938.60
What does this license fee cover?
The license fee covers support (email, telephone and remote access support) and all software updates released during the license period. We recommend (and request) that you email your queries to us at: farmsupport@sqrsoftware.com. Email support is preferable to telephonic support as a record can be kept of the emailed query.
Should you require assistance with your computer, we do provide this service at our offices. We request that you schedule an appointment with our support desk beforehand.
How often is the Farmer CanePro software updated?
Two software updates are typically scheduled per annum. However, should new developments (such as tax, other legislative changes and bug fixes) arise, updates will occur which incorporate these changes. We will advise by email when these updates are available, and they can be downloaded from our website on: www.sqrsoftware.com/FarmerUpdate.zip
How will Farmer CanePro benefit my operation?
For an agricultural information system to be judged a success it must deliver two primary benefits: improved yields and reduced costs.
How will Farmer CanePro improve my yields?
There is improved decision making based on better access to information. There are operational benefits from using Farmer CanePro’s decision support tools (e.g. harvest planning).
How will Farmer CanePro reduce my costs?
Through effective control of resource utilization such as labour (activity capture and payroll), vehicles (utilization, maintenance) and materials (control).
Do you provide additional training?
Yes, we can provide additional training on request for individuals or groups.
Can data be extracted for further manipulation outside of Farmer CanePro?
All of the report grids in Farmer CanePro can be exported directly in MS Excel.
What server hardware does the system require?
Hard Disk Space – 700 MB free space
RAM – Minimum 512 MB (recommended 1 GB or higher)
Processor – Pentium IV compatible or higher (minimum 500 MHz) (recommended 2 GHz or higher)

We have a lot of field history. Will we be able to import this information into Farmer CanePro?
Yes, we can import any existing information from your own databases and/or spreadsheets.
How long does an installation take?
This typically takes 4 – 5 hours (2 hours for training). It takes about 2 to 3 weeks to become familiar with the new version.
Does Farmer CanePro accommodate for local labour legislation?
Farmer CanePro currently provides UIF, IRP5 and Accident Reports (WCA), which can be processed manually as well as submitted electronically. Equity and Skills Reports are not available in report format, but the majority of information can be derived from the system.
