Operational Planners The planning requirements for agronomically-intensive operations, such as weed control and fertilization, are dealt with in a unique manner in CanePro. These operations are critical in nature requiring intensive management to ensure correct timing and resource allocation. In addition the rules required to generate the timing of these activities and their resource requirements are often complex e.g. fertilizer recommendations generated from soil or foliar analysis. Generating the plan CanePro allows the user to describe a set of agronomic rules which are used on a field by field basis to plan tasks and the resources required to perform them. This ensures that a single set of rules is used for the entire operation and allows technical staff to amend rules centrally as required. Tasks calculated by these planners can be viewed in CanePro's Gantt chart interface, and in more conventional tables and pivot cubes. Resource requirements generated for these tasks drive the budgeting process, allowing for a true bottom-up budgeting approach. Evaluating the execution of the plan Actual resource utilization captured through CanePro's labour, vehicle and materials modules can be compared with planned usage using Operational Gantt charts. Planned and actual events can be compared side-by-side to evaluate timing and resource usage. To date the following planners have been developed:
Smut rouging (disease control) Agronomic planners of this nature are often site-specific and further planners will be developed on demand. |
