Agronomy

CanePro maintains a single centralized field disposition which is shared between all CanePro modules. This ensures that different departments in the organization are basing decisions on the same core field information.

During a typical implementation, all existing field records would be imported into CanePro's database to ensure that historical information is not lost. Strict database security and audit controls ensure that the field information can only be viewed and changed by users with the necessary permissions.

CanePro's field disposition includes historical, current and future field history records. The future field history records are used as input into CanePro's Harvest Planner, Resource Planning and Budgeting modules. An organizational tree, encapsulating the hierarchical organization of an estate, groups the fields to any number of levels. This hierarchy is used as a reporting dimension and is extremely useful for operational purposes where certain managers are responsible for certain farms or areas.

Snapshots of the field disposition can be saved and then compared with any other field snapshot allowing for the tracking of changes in field disposition over time.

A table of field history records store all information associated with a field's performance for a particular season. This includes harvest dates, cane variety, irrigation type (if applicable), row width, rainfall received, irrigation applied as well as all yield information such as tons cane, tons sucrose, tons fiber, tons moisture and purity percentage.

Typically CanePro is interfaced with a weighbridge delivery system at the mill gate. This ensures that all yield information is updated automatically when a delivery record is captured at the weighbridge.

All field history information can be viewed graphically using CanePro's flexible graphical analysis tools, or spatially using the GIS module. This allows management to quickly identify trends and problems, thereby improving agronomic decision making.

Besides storing field yield information CanePro also maintains complete records of other agronomic data. This includes pest and disease sample records as well as soil and leaf analyses. The soil and leaf analyses are used as input for the Fertilizer Planner, a sub-module of CanePro's Resource Planning module. Actual applications of fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides can be recorded and compared with planned quantities and planned application dates.
